Alter Ego Shoots Dos Equis in a Single Take

From pre-production, production through to post production, alter ego directed and provided a full range of services for Toronto Agency Sandbox and their Dos Equis “Apply Within” campaign.

Expanding on their popular “most interesting man” campaign, Dos Equis’ new contest is to place 5 people into the most interesting jobs in the world, and take them away from the their 9-5 desk jobs.

The concept was simple: a guy sits in a cubicle office and then 5 dream jobs project around him, making it look as if he’s almost there. The challenge was to have the hero’s outfit change and match his actions with a live projection. To do this, we needed to shoot green screen versions of our hero in different outfits and composite them into the projection footage immediately on set. Then when the projection appears, his clothing and environment line up perfectly.

The entire ad had to take place in 1 take with no post trickery with the effect being projected live. Alter ego’s production and VFX teams all worked seamlessly together to pull this off in a single take.
